This month we feature an inspiring woman each week that are following their creative and entrepreneurial callings in life. This week we'd like to introduce Gold Coast based artist Ra Churchin from Romeo Alpha Gallery. Grab a quick burst of inspiration from Ra's path of pursuing her own passion.

In a sentence or two, can you tell us about your journey to being a full-time artist?

I started out with canvases from the $2 shop and painted unaware that I could turn my passion into a business. Over time, though, friends and family caught onto my art and it progressed from there.

What have been the benefits for you in actively pursuing your passion?

I feel it creates a lot of self worth and love. It’s definitely given me direction and purpose.

As a passionate entrepreneur, what are some of the biggest challenges you experience?

Sometimes it just feels like everything you’ve worked passionately and honestly on is going nowhere, especially financially. It’s like it’s either going to make or break you, but because I’m doing what I love I just get more determined to think of better ways to think outside the box and not give up.

What has been your biggest “aha” moment that you are doing what you are meant to be doing?

Right at the beginning when I sold my first painting to a stranger, I was so taken back and excited and inspired that I kept at it.

What tools or practices do you enlist to refocus and realign when you feel you are imbalanced?

I always go to music and nature. It never fails.

What is your favourite quote or mantra?

"In the deepest mysteries of music are the inspirations, the pathways, and the healing which lead to one-ness and unity."
Olivea Dewhurst-Maddock, Sound Therapy

What or who influences you?

Astrology, Love and Instagram.

What advice could you give to fellow passionistas looking to take the leap to pursue their own personal or creative callings?

I would say to honor your creativity whether success comes from it or not. And to take lots of big deep breaths... it can be frustrating at times.

What’s next for Romeo Alpha?

I’m looking into developing more products that I can eventually sell at the Markets.
